A Little About Myself

I was born in Houston Tx and grew up overseas in the UK, Bahrain, and Saudi Arabia. As a child living in these places, I was lucky to be able to travel often with my family. I still treasure the memories of the sights, sounds, and tastes of these places. I attended a boarding school in Pennsylvania for high school while my parents still lived in Saudi Arabia. Then, in 2020, I moved to Austin to pursue a degree in Fine Arts from the University of Texas at Austin. I graduated in 2024 with a BFA and four years’ worth of figurative oil paintings and charcoal life drawings.

As a child, I remember hearing about how my mother gave birth to me at home, surrounded by her own mother, husband, and midwife. She told me about the midwife who cared for her in Austin, who taught her to quilt while she was pregnant with me, who was such a source of strength and support to her. As an adult, I got to experience this while accompanying a local midwife to a homebirth. I observed in awe as the birth unfolded without stress or fear, only the deep care and attentiveness of the midwife, the unwavering love and support from the partner, and above all, the indescribable peace and strength of the mother. I left there feeling a calling to birth work and the world of pregnancy. Currently, I am pursuing work as a birth doula on the way to eventually becoming a certified professional midwife.

As a friend, sister, and daughter, I believe that everyone deserves to have someone by their side during important moments in life.

Specifically for the journey of pregnancy, birth, and postpartum, I find it such an incredible honor to be able to cheer on, coach, laugh, cry, and do everything else in between with/for someone who is doing something so brave as childbirth.

Why I love Doula Work!
